Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's

-
Do I need to bring fishing rods and/or tackle?Nope! We provide everything you need to catch fish: rods, bait, tackle…everything. We’ve got you covered.
-
Do I need a fishing license?Yes! Each person in your group who is 17 or older must carry a valid Michigan all species fishing license with them on board. You can purchase a license online through Michigan DNR at www.mdnr-elicense.com or at local bait shops and major retailers like Walmart.
-
How should I dress?Dress in layers! The weather can change quickly out on the lake, going from quite cold in the mornings to hot on a sunny afternoon. We recommend bringing at least a jacket or sweatshirt and a raincoat (we fish in the rain at the Captain’s discretion but not during severe weather). In cooler seasons you may also want a winter hat, gloves, and a heavier jacket. We also recommend wearing sunscreen and sunglasses to prevent sunburn and glare. Rinse your hands after applying sunscreen so the fish are not put off by the smell! Please wear soft-soled footwear on the boat. You may be asked to change out of any footwear with the potential to damage surfaces on the boat.
-
What should I bring? Please bring a cooler to transport your catch home after the trip! Bring any snacks and drinks you will want during the day, and feel free to pack these in a smaller cooler to bring on board. Feel free to bring a camera and take as many photos as you want throughout the day!
-
Can I bring alcohol? We don’t prohibit alcohol, but for everyone’s safety we will cancel the trip if anyone on board becomes intoxicated. We also do not allow any recreational drugs on board. The Captain will immediately cancel any trip if he feels that someone on board is in danger in any way.
-
Will you provide life jackets?Yes! We will have an approved personal flotation device for each person on board. As per Michigan law, children under 6 will need to wear their life jackets whenever we are underway.
-
Do you go out in bad weather? We never go out in unsafe conditions. If it’s raining but otherwise safe, we can still have a great trip. Bring a rain jacket! However, we will cancel in cases of severe weather and/or high waves. Deciding what conditions are safe is at the Captain’s discretion.
-
What if I have a medical condition? We ask that you please tell us if anyone in your party has a medical condition. It could take up to an hour to return to the dock, so we need to be aware of any medical emergencies that may occur. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking a prevention measure such as a pill, patch, or bracelet before the trip. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for trips cancelled due to someone on board becoming motion sick.
-
Will you clean our fish?Absolutely! We will clean and pack up your catch so you don’t have to. You’ll just need to take care of transporting it home. There’s no charge for cleaning your fish, however, it’s customary to tip if you appreciate this service.
-
Can I cancel a trip after I’ve booked it?To receive a full refund of your deposit, please cancel at least 7 days before the date of your scheduled trip. We charge half the price of the charter for no shows or cancellations within 24 hours of a trip’s start time. If the Captain cancels a trip due to severe weather or dangerous wave conditions, you may either reschedule for another date or request a refund of your deposit.
